Hello there! This is my first post ever in a blog… so forgive my lack of experience. I am starting this blog today for a reason: I want to share my everyday professional experience on this new and exciting emerging e-mobility market.
I live in Madrid, Spain, and I run a company called Electric Mobility Solutions, dedicated to distribute and design electric vehicles and accessories related to its charging, such as solar chargers. I started this company in 2009 after having spent the last few years working for big multinational industrial companies. I started EMS because I believe electric vehicles are a real breakthrough in terms of transportation habits. It is true that in the past some car manufacturers have tried to come up with designs (remember GM with its EV-1 in the 90′s)… however the different projects did not pursue for lots of reasons that I will not discuss here. But now it is time. Now, the whole world is starting to accept this new technology, and more important: all manufacturers have understood that this is the future technology that will be used in their vehicles.
Last week I visited the Geneva International Motor Show, and I have to admit I was somehow disappointed with regards of the electric vehicles offer shown. I am used now to hear in lots of conferences I attend that all manufacturers have their electric models almost ready! But when I visited the show, the impression I get is that all these big car manufacturers are using the electric vehicle as a marketing tool! You see them in all newspapers, in the news on tv, but I can tell you that in Geneva they put a lot more emphasis to their current gasoline or diesels models (apart of the hybrids offered by some companies).
In any case, the electric technology for transportation is here to stay, no doubt about this. In future posts I will discuss how the electric vehicle is starting to get popular in Europe and I will share with you some amazing facts about their use… in Asia!
